Ladies and Gentleman: It's official...we're hubby and wife!!!
Okay, it was totally fun. I didn't know it would be fun...or at least I didn't know it would be THAT fun, but it was! Let's marry each other again tomorrow! Okay, if we can't do that, then let's at least have a giant ice cream bar!! GOOD TIMES!!!
One of the engineers at work (at the surprise party this week) said to be sure to write down what I remember so that years from now we can look back at it and remember it and laugh at what seemed important.
I wouldn't really know where to start and I'm pretty sure I can't capture it on a blog. This morning Aaron asked if I'd feel any different tonight. I said, "probably not much different" and paused and added, "but I think I'll be really happy". And that pretty much sums it up.
What I remember is that Aaron and I think we're pretty darned good looking!! Okay, no false modesty! I remember getting my hair done and it took a good 1 1/2 which I couldn't quite imagine. But it looked awesome!!! Aaron and I met the Gang downtown for lunch at the Steelhead and they brought us champagne.
Aaron was a little nervous this afternoon so Cynthia offered him Valium. He said, 'no thanks'. Then she suggest just a little bit of booze. Naturally he said no again. We had our lunch. During that time they exchanged remedies for motion sickness. Cynthia explained how Dramine suppresses the nervous system and "tells the brain to 'shut up'". Without missing a beat Aaron says, "well I need some of that right now!" I swear chili was about to come out my nose. Ohmigod....my honey needed a nervous system retardant to marry me.
Then once we were late for our own wedding we hurried home where Henry the photographer was waiting for us. We changed in what is probably wedding record breaking time --- 10 minutes?? Not long, that's for sure. The groom was totally stylin. I mean, he looked GREAT! I looked great, and the over-the-counter Nordstrom jewelery was perfect. It got lots of compliments.
Cynthia and the 3-Dayers were at our every beck and call. All we had to do was change and smile a lot. We had pictures with EVERYONE!! The kids from the wedding were adorable, they looked great and did a perfect job at the wedding.
I remember waiting inside for about 1/2 hour while the guests were seated. It got nerve racking once it got really close to time to start. We practiced walking "sloooowly", stopping at the bottom of the deck, and twirly under the arch... Then it was time. We lined up in the mud room and waited for Big Hannah to send us out into the processional. Suddenly I was nervous. "Where the Dramamine when I need it?" I wondered? ...or Valium...or a stiff drink. No luck...I'd have to go it like natural child birth: no drugs...just breeeeeath. Then the kids were out there and waiting for us and they started playing our song...everyone knew it right away...yes, Take Me Out to the Ball Game!! Everyone must have been standing before we got out. There were giggles and lots of smiles. We had practiced trying to make eye contact. Suddenly it was WAY less nerve racking.
We walked sloooowly, stopped at the bottom of stairs, twirled under the arch...just like we practiced and then I looked down and said, "oh oh" Aaron says, "what?" I stare at my empty left hand. "No bouquet". And just like that a 3-Dayer came springing down the isle with the bouquet. We HAD to have it...it was for the Remeberances and I couldn't forget Johnny or anyone else. No Way!!! Then it just rolled on.
LuAnn gave a great talk on marriage, Cynthia and Abby read poems, Melissa explained the marriage certificate and gave a really nice talk, Joel and Jane were our witnesses. Pictures, conversation, and then off to Marchellos. We had a GREAT dinner. Fabulous service. And best of all even though we gave away one freebie (one kiss from the clinking of the glasses) we had people tell stories after that and then we'd kiss. Hats off to the guest because the stories were funny and heartwarming..everything hallmark could hope for...and super fun. The Ultimate people did a cheer to the 7th inning stretch some called, "take me out to the wedding..." it was, of course, very funny and luckily "G" rated.
When we got home the 3-Dayers had decorrated our bedroom, I think in liue of decorating the car. Roses on the night stand, pedals and chocolates on the bed, and red balloons everyone. It was super fun to come home too.
And now it's time to sign off. Until tomorrow when we begin: Anner & Aaron's Marriage Blog.
More pictures to come when we're less tired. :)
